Aperture and video cards

Save your money
When I was in the Apple store yesterday I fired up Aperture on a MacPro tower (3gB, 2.4gHz) with the ATI Radeon X1900 card and paged through 15 Nikon D70 RAW snaps in Full Screen (a gorgeous 30″ Apple Cinema Display).
The Nikon files are 10mB, so a little smaller than the 12.8mB from […]

Sad moment

Now, it’s Nikon
Nikon calls its full frame D3 DSLR ‘FX’ format.
When I was a lad that was called Leica format.

Total heaviosity

In the words of the great Woody Allen.
As I learn more of the advanced functionality of my bottom-of-the-line $900 MacBook, the more impressed I am.
With a larger hard disk on the way I turned my attention to adding a really big screen to the laptop. $900 for Apple’s 23″ Cinema Display makes me want […]

Well, it’s about time!

Finally, Nikon has a full frame digital SLR

While I remain delighted with my Canon 5D I continue to smart from being hosed down $3,000 for the body. That, of course, is the price of uniqueness. A lack of competition.
Well, Nikon has just fixed that with a pro-grade DSLR which comes with a full […]
