Wilmington, VT

Rural charm.

Wilmington is at the junction of highways 100 and 9 in south central Vermont.

In the spring at the time of our visit the town is largely deserted. By contrast, in the summer it is a living hell suffused with the noise of pigs on Harleys. Revolting people on appallingly engineered noise makers passing as motorcycles.

The weather here is severe, the winters brutally cold and very long.

Not sure what the police do here, but there they are, in the center of town.

Interesting design.

If you like your food wholesome and your waitresses butch, Dot’s on Main Street is the place for you.

Antique store porch on Main Street.

On the road to Wilmington.

The Maple Museum.

Wilmington is home to no fewer than three bookshops – new, used and antiquarian. How can one not like that? And this in a town of 2,200.
