Boulder Creek, surrounded by redwoods in the Santa Cruz mountains, is best approached either on Highway 9 from Saratoga or on Highway 35 from La Honda to Highway 9, and the trip may be as close to sports car heaven as it’s possible to get. It’s the town that time forgot and let’s hope it stays that way. Do this on a weekday and the ghastly SUVs which block the road on weekends are nowhere to be seen.

Some complain about the premium cost of living in California; to me, it’s the best bargain on earth.
