{"id":1663,"date":"2009-07-24T00:47:14","date_gmt":"2009-07-24T07:47:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pindelski.org\/Photography\/?p=1663"},"modified":"2009-07-24T07:21:20","modified_gmt":"2009-07-24T14:21:20","slug":"sometimes-it-does-matter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pindelski.org\/Photography\/2009\/07\/24\/sometimes-it-does-matter\/","title":{"rendered":"Sometimes it does matter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>Not all posing is right<\/i><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s an interesting article in a recent issue of The Guardian on whether <a href=http:\/\/pindelski.org\/Photography\/2006\/03\/11\/robert-capa\/ target=_blank>Robert Capa<\/a> faked the famous snap of the Spanish revolutionary soldier at the moment of death:<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/world\/2009\/jun\/14\/robert-capa-spain-photography target=_blank><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog\/Capa_fake.jpg\" width=\"476\" height=\"628\"\/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>Click the picture to read the article<\/i><\/center><\/p>\n<p>If you click the above there&#8217;s an excellent audio commentary with many great Capa pictures &#8211; and pictures of Capa &#8211; which is worth spending a few minutes on.<\/p>\n<p>I wrote in a light tone on the subject of whether posing a seemingly candid snap made any difference <a href=http:\/\/pindelski.org\/Photography\/2009\/04\/28\/so-waddya-care-if-its-posed\/ target=_blank>here<\/a>, and feel it is only appropriate to add that, in this case, it probably does make a difference.  If it&#8217;s unposed, this is a great piece of photojounralism; if posed, it&#8217;s an attempt to manipulate opinion to the photographer&#8217;s political leanings.
