Admission was up to $25 this year but at 5 cents per car viewed that remains a bargain as does the free parking and the absence of crowds.<\/p>\n<p>There were old friends and some new entrants, all with the common belief that these old cars are meant to be driven hard, not parked and polished in some <i>nouveau riche<\/i>&#8216;s Silicon Valley garage bought with the proceeds of the latest tedious social app.<\/p>\n<p>My interest is mostly in the pre-electronic period racers as they come from a purely mechanical era &#8211; no wind tunnels, no electronics, no anti-lock brakes, skinny tires and great skill required to drive.  That&#8217;s what racing should be about.<\/p>\n<p><center><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog2\/Historics2015_01.jpg\" width=\"681\" height=\"1014\" alt=\"\"><br \/>\n<i>Redefining patina.  An old 911.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog2\/Historics2015_02.jpg\" width=\"681\" height=\"1014\" alt=\"\"><br \/>\n<i>Pininfarina&#8217;s Ferrari 288 &#8211; a styling peak.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog2\/Historics2015_03.jpg\" width=\"1014\" height=\"681\" alt=\"\"><br \/>\n<i>Demure split window &#8216;Vette.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog2\/Hitorics2015_04.jpg\" width=\"681\" height=\"1014\" alt=\"\"><br \/>\n<i>Pre-war Maserati.  Italian, so why not make it beautiful?<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog2\/Histortics2015_05.jpg\" width=\"681\" height=\"1014\" alt=\"\"><br \/>\n<i>1934 Alfa with famous provenance.  The team was managed by Enzo Ferrari back then.<br \/>\nThe owner\/driver is John Shirley, former president of Microsoft.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog2\/Historics2015_06.jpg\" width=\"721\" height=\"1014\" alt=\"\"><br \/>\n<i>Here&#8217;s the story of that famous Alfa. Driver wanted.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog2\/Historics2015_10.jpg\" width=\"1014\" height=\"309\" alt=\"\"><br \/>\n<i>A trio of 356s &#8211; Porsche was well represented, as always.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog2\/Historics2015_11.jpg\" width=\"1014\" height=\"681\" alt=\"\"><br \/>\n<i>American butt.  Muscle cars get the drivers they deserve.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog2\/Historics2015-12.jpg\" width=\"1014\" height=\"681\" alt=\"\"><br \/>\n<i>Big business.
