A contemporary of <a href=https:\/\/pindelski.org\/Photography\/2023\/07\/30\/john-christian-leyendecker\/ target=_blank>J C Leyendecker<\/a> his illustrations are distinguished by the lovely young women used to sell dresses, cosmetics, kitchen hardware, you name it. An absolute stunner.<\/i><\/center><\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog2\/Phillips_09.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<i><\/i><\/center><\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog2\/Phillips_10.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<i>An example of non-Fadeaway art, still striking.<\/i><\/center><\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog2\/Phillips_11.JPG\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<i><\/i><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I can find only one monograph of his work out there:<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Fadeaway-Remarkable-Imagery-Phillips-History\/dp\/0486828638\/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1ODY6Y9W2IR3U&#038;keywords=fadeaway&#038;qid=1691594509&#038;sprefix=fadeaway%2Caps%2C142&#038;sr=8-4 target=_blank><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog2\/Phillips_12.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>Click the image for Amazon.<\/i><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Phillips&#8217;s work is obviously not aimed at the grubby masses, yearning to breathe free (or, at least, hoping for a cheap seat in the bleachers).
