{"id":40904,"date":"2025-05-04T08:39:46","date_gmt":"2025-05-04T15:39:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pindelski.org\/Photography\/?p=40904"},"modified":"2025-05-04T20:54:40","modified_gmt":"2025-05-05T03:54:40","slug":"135mm-leitz-elmar-some-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pindelski.org\/Photography\/2025\/05\/04\/135mm-leitz-elmar-some-results\/","title":{"rendered":"135mm Leitz Elmar &#8211; some results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><I>An excellent lens for very little.<\/I><\/p>\n<p><I>For an index of all Leica-related articles click <a href=https:\/\/pindelski.org\/Photography\/indexes\/photography\/leica\/ target=_blank>here<\/a><\/I>.<\/p>\n<p>Sharp with excellent micro-contrast even at full aperture, this 65 year old <a href=https:\/\/pindelski.org\/Photography\/2025\/05\/02\/135mm-f-4-leitz-elmar-lens\/ target=_blank>Leitz 135mm f\/4 Elmar lens<\/a> is excellent for capturing architectural details and street candids, though the latter can be a real challenge given the lens&#8217;s demand for correct focus, which can take time with the long throw focus collar.<\/p>\n<p>Some examples snapped yesterday &#8211; architecture first. Unlike, say, with a 21mm or 35mm focal length, &#8216;spray and pray&#8217; is not a winning strategy with the 135mm.  Careful handholding and accurate focus are the order of the day:<\/p>\n<p><center><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog2\/Arcgitecture candid 1.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<I>Sure hope they like those tattoos, because<br \/>\nthey are stuck with them for life.<\/I><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog2\/Arcgitecture candid 2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<I>Another tattoo freak.  The camera was panned to<br \/>\nenhance background blur.<\/I><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pindelski.org\/Blog2\/Arcgitecture candid 3.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<I>Taking in the sun.<\/I><\/p>\n<p><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The resolution is as good as anything money can buy and the main <I>caveat<\/I> is that, without solid technique and a properly adjusted rangefinder (check the link in the opening paragraph, above), results will be disappointing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An excellent lens for very little.
