Funny reading this – I’m slowly (after 3 years) finding I have the same affection for my 5D, 35/1.4, 85/1.8 and 135/2.0 lenses that I have had for very few other cameras/machines – the M2 and 90mm summicron I used to have, the Pentax 67 I still have but don’t use, and the 20 year old RangeRover with over 200,000 miles.
Simple solid machines that do what you want without any fuss. Good enough that there’s no need to replace them, just get on with doing stuff instead. Strange to say that about the 5D, but after setting it up to get the results I wanted I hardly have to change the settings now.
