So wound up was I in the atmosphere of this scene that I forgot all about twiddling the dials. Turns out the snap was taken at f/1.8, 1/8000th! Well, at least there’s no camera shake and the original testifies to the full aperture capabilities of the superb Olympus 17mm MFT optic.

A break in Broadway’s busy traffic shows this Edwardian masterpiece in its true splendor.

Judging by the Yelp reviews you may prefer to stay elsewhere than at this wonderfully named Golden Eagle Hotel shown here:

This is at the same time one of the seediest and most photogenic areas of North Beach, San Francisco.
