This exquisite piece of window design is from Carmel. Taken at night, the image takes on the guise of one of those realist paintings of the Dutch school.
The tonal range in the 18″ x 24″ print on my wall is to die for, in no small part thanks to the superb job done by the HP DesignJet dye ink printer.

City in the Bay.
Much like Sausalito, Tiburon is a small town of maybe 10,000 inhabitants and easily reached by driving north over the Golden Gate or by ferry from the mainland. Compared with Sausalito there are many cookie-cutter condos here which detract from the setting, and real estate is every bit as expensive.
Main Street is very small yet charming, and Ark Row at its end adds some pleasant artisan shops.

A pioneering reformer.
Countless Americans owe their decent living standards to the pioneering social reformer and photographer, Jacob Riis, a naturalized American born in the Netherlands.
His revolutionary use of photography to highlight the plight of New York’s poorest residents came to the attention of Teddy Roosevelt and between them these two reformers arguably did more for the poor than any one before or since.
